Nicklas Bendtner set for speedy exit as Milan close in on Arsenal striker

There is no shortage of strikers on sale at Arsenal this summer, but if there is one man the Arsenal fans want to get rid of ahead of everyone else, it is Danish forward Nicklas Bendtner. The self-professed best footballer in the world has had too many run-ins with the Arsenal management and fans for the club's liking, and despite the 24-year old's burgeoning talent, the Gunners are desperate to see him leave.

In fairness to Nicklas, there are few who doubt his ability, and given his age, there is no doubt he would be a good classical center-forward in the year's to come. But will he be a 25-30 goals a season type of player? Highly unlikely. A tall and powerful striker, Bendtner is the ideal target man, however, his poor goal return in his many seasons with Arsenal, and the fact that he scored just 8 goals last season despite getting a good run in the first team at Sunderland last year means there aren't too many clubs chasing his signature.

A good performance, despite his under-pants stunt, for Denmark at the Euros put the player back in the spotlight, and if rumours in the Metro are to be believed, AC Milan are keen on snapping up the youngster as one of possibly many replacements for the recently departed Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

While Bendtner is nowhere near the Swede's class at present, he is a similar kind of player, and would be a good squad member to have at the San Siro.

Arsenal are reportedly asking for a £7.5 million fee, a figure which is unlikely to worry the recently cash-rish Milan club. However, with the Rossoneri having to fill 12 vacancies created by player departures this summer, chances are there will be some haggling involved on the price. Bendtner also has suitors in Turkey with Galatasaray and Fenerbache both having been linked with the player already this summer, but chances are he would prefer a move to Italy with a top club instead.
