Brazil might be the theme of the current transfer window theatrics in England as the Samba boys have continually hogged the limelight in the rumour mill. But one Brazilian who will not be making a move to the Premier League this summer is Ganso as the Santos midfielder has revealed his intention to remain in Brazil.
Arsenal were strongly linked with the 22 year old after his agent declared that he wouldn't represent Santos ever again. But he has had a sudden change of heart, possibly after experiencing the English weather first hand as he prepares for the London Olympics with the National side.
“I heard a lot of things that were not correct,†said the attacking midfielder during a press conference. “Today, my future is at Santos. I have a contract until 2015, and right now I am focused on winning the gold at the Olympic Games for the Selecao,†he added.
Injuries to Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby have forced Arsene Wenger into looking for an extra midfielder and the Brazilian would have been a breath of fresh air in Arsenal's line-up. Mikel Arteta has shouldered most of the burden in the centre, with Aaron Ramsey and Tomas Rosicky proving to be inconsistent.
The imminent departure of Robin van Persie will place further emphasis on the midfield to chip in with goals. Wenger has also distanced himself from another target Yann M'Vila as the chances of a midfield reinforcement arriving at the Emirates before the new season looks remote.
