Ninteen year old Chelsea prospect Josh McEachran was once upon a time spoken in the same glowing terms as a certain Jack Wilshere across London. However, the young Englishman has seen his opportunity to flourish at Stamford Bridge decline rather rapidly over the last few seasons, and even a loan move to Swansea did not work out as planned in February with the Welsh side only using the player once in their League campaign.

Frustrated at the lack of opportunities, but determined to succeed at the club he loves, McEachran is set to hold talks with Roberto di Matteo this week to understand what the Italian Manager has planned for him this season according to reports in the Daily Express.

McEachran shared in an interview with the newspaper, â€œLast year did not go according to plan but you have to take the positives out of it. It was good experience but I'm glad to be back at Chelsea. It was difficult. I went to Swansea to play and get more experience but it didn't work out that way. It was frustrating because the whole reason I went was to play games. In football there are always setbacks – it's how you deal with them.

“I'm a Chelsea player and I want to play for Chelsea. If the manager wants to send me out on loan then that's up to him, but I want to be playing if I go on loan.

“My priority this season is to get game time. If it's not at Chelsea then Robbie will find a club for me.”

Given his lack of game time at Swansea, it appears that there are unlikely to be too many Premier League clubs who will be willing to take a shot on taking the youngster on this season, with the promise of regular first team action, and it appears McEachran may need to drop down to the Championship to get some playing time he so yearns for.
