Adebayor set to return to Man City for pre-season as transfer talks roll on

Manchester City misfit Emmanuel Adebayor is set to return to Eastlands for the start of pre-season training, with his future still hanging in the balance reports the Sun. The Togolese international has been heavily linked with a move back to Tottenham Hotspur, where he spent the whole of last season on loan, scoring 18 times for the North London outfit. However, the two sides are still undecided on the striker's valuation, with City demanding at least £6 million for a player they signed for £25 million in 2009.

Spurs on the other hand do not want to pay the Citizens more than £5 million for the 28-year old, with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy expectedly driving a hard bargain with the cash-rich Manchester club.

Adebayor himself has agreed to take a massive pay-cut in order to join the North London side, but still will be the club's highest earner at a reported £115,000-per-week if the deal does go through.

City are keen on having Adebayor leave through the exit doors of the Etihad Stadium, knowing the fractious nature of the relationship between him and their prime transfer target Robin van Persie. The Citizens are also trying to engineer the sales of Roque Santa Cruz and Edin Dzeko, both of whom are deemed as excess to requirements at the Etihad Stadium.
