West Ham ready to move for Berbatov, Agent talks up Milan option

West Ham United have made an audacious bid to bring Manchester United misfit Dimitar Berbatov to Upton Park according to reports in the Daily Mirror, this after the striker confirmed the possibility of an exit this summer. Berbatov, who was a £30 million signing for United in 2008, never managed to replicate his form for ex-empoyers Tottenham at Old Trafford, and despite being the Premier League's joint-top scorer in 2010-11, remained a peripheral figure for the Red Devils throughout the last season.

Seeing his chances of first-team action diminish at United, the 31-year old made public his desire to move to another club, suggesting that a bid of around £5 million would be enough to sign him. It is believed though that West Ham have offered to take him on loan, and have not made an official offer to sign the player permanently.

Sir Alex Ferguson however might not want to see Berbatov go out on loan, and would rather keep him at the club despite preferring the trio of Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck over the Bulgarian.

In an interesting turn of events though in the last few hours, Berbatov's agent Emil Dantchev has talked up the possibility of the striker moving to AC Milan as a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. In an interview with Calcio Mercato, Dantchev has declared that Berbatov would relish the possibility of playing in Serie A and amongst the two clubs that he is considering, Juventus and AC Milan, he would prefer the latter.

The agent though did add that he was merely speculating at present, and no formal discussions have taken place between Milan and United as yet.
