Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be weighing up a move for Olympiacos forward Kevin Mirallas, reported the Daily Star. Arsenal are also said to be in the hunt for the Belgian, who had a very impressive last season for Greek giants.

Mirallas started his career with the youth side of hometown club Standard Liege before joining French side Lille in 2004. The 24 year-old joined Greek champions Olympiacos in 2010 after two years at Saint-Etienne. The striker played an instrumental role as Olympiacos won the Greek League for two consecutive years and was even the top scorer in Greece last season with 20 goals in 25 league games. He is known to be a versatile player capable of playing out wide or up front to lead the attack and is also a regular for his national side.

Liverpool have already parted ways with Dutchman Dirk Kuyt and Argentine Maxi Rodriguez and are looking for suitable replacements up front. Rumours are also suggesting that Kop flop Andy Carroll could be headed for the door this summer. The Belgian is available at a bargain price of £10 million and given his form in the Greek league, he could be a valuable addition to Rodgers' squad. His ability to fit anywhere in the frontline in Rodgers' preferred 4-3-3 formation makes him a very attractive prospect.

Arsenal are also looking to add some forwards with the expected departures of Arshavin, Vela, Chamakh, Bendtner and Van Persie this summer. Wenger, however, has already bought Giroud and Podolski, and his rather rigid stance of playing a 4-2-3-1 formation would mean that Mirallas would most likely be competing with Giroud directly in a target man's role with Podolski slotting in wide on the left.

The Belgian is also said to be interested in a move to the Premier League with Merseyside his preferred option. With Carroll's future hanging in the balance, the departure of the Englishman could force Rodgers to make a swoop for Mirallas before he sets out to meet the expectations of loyal Liverpool fans next season.
