21 year old Italian international Fabio Borini will be the first player to be signed by Liverpool during Brendan Rodgers' reign after a 10 million pounds fee was agreed upon by the two clubs, Liverpool and AS Roma. Borini is scheduled for a medical at the English club's Melwood training ground, and is expected to finalise the deal in the next 48 hours.

Borini joined Parma from Chelsea in the summer of 2011, but was loaned out to Roma, where he had a brilliant season, scoring 10 times in 26 games. Roma bought 50 per cent of the player's rights in January, and the other 50 per cent just two weeks ago. However, have opted to allow the player to leave after he wished his desire to return to England.

The move may spell the end of Andy Carroll at Liverpool, with the big Englishman already behind Luis Suarez in the pecking order. Rodgers prefers to play with one man up front, which means Carroll participation in Liverpool's campaign will most probably be restricted mostly to substitute appearances if he decides to continue at the club. Borini, on the other hand, knows Rodgers' system well enough, having played under him during his time at Swansea, and is suited to the fast paced passing style of football that Rodgers hopes to introduce at Liverpool. Borini's signing will provide some fire-power up front, and considering Liverpool's dismal scoring record of 47 goals in the last Premier League season, may prove to be a vital signing for the club.

Borini's first game for his new club could amazingly be a friendly against former club Roma on the 25th of July at the Fenway Sports Park.
