Arsene Wenger's eye for talent in his native France has served him very well down the years and he might well have unearthed the next star from the Ligue 1 after it has emerged that Arsenal have brought in 17 year old striker M'baye Niang on a trial. The Caen attacker has been linked with the Gunners for a while now, although interest from Newcastle and Stoke clouded the issue. The teenager will now join the squad being put through the paces as part of the pre-season program and considering Wenger's history with youth, he will be given every chance to shine.

Caen manager Patrice Garande wasn't too happy with his prodigy being enticed by the big clubs across the channel as he recently told Sky Sports: "What I say in relation to him is simple, he has talent - yes, does he have the potential to make a career - yes. But is he doing the right thing for this at the moment - no."

Niang has been touted as the proverbial 'next best thing' in France ever since bursting on to the scene last year and with five goals in the Ligue 1 and U-21 appearances for France to show for since, his stock has only risen. Wenger has added Lukas Podoslki and Olivier Giroud to his squad this summer whilst battling to hold on to Robin van Persie but he hasn't detracted from his core philosophy of feeding young players through the system.
