French international Olivier Giroud told the Sun in an interview that he was excited at the prospect of joining Arsenal this summer. Following France's quarter-final loss to Spain, the Montpellier striker is currently in the process of putting pen to paper on the much awaited transfer.

The 25 year-old displayed exceptional class last season scoring 21 goals to lead Montpellier to the Ligue 1 title. His exceptional performances had culminated in the player being called up to the national side for the 2012 European Championships. With star striker Robin van Persie's future still up in the air, the Frenchman could well lead the line as Arsene Wenger looks to end a seven-year trophy drought at the club.

The Sun have quoted Giroud as saying, "I am so happy to be signing for Arsenal - it is something that represents so much for me. I've always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and Arsenal are a great club with many French players."

The player is reportedly headed to London this week to undergo a medical, before finalising his move to the Emirates. The transfer is expected to fetch the Ligue 1 champions £12 million and the club's president has come forward to wish the striker luck in his future endeavors.
