Two weeks after winning the girl's singles title at the French Open, the next career highlight is now awaiting youngster Annika Beck: the 18-year-old member of the Porsche Talent Team Germany has qualified for the main draw of the All England Championships in Wimbledon which begins on Monday.
The German, who will be making her senior debut at a grand slam, carried over the good form she showed at the French Open to cruise through qualifying. She didn't drop a single set in any of her three matches. In her final on Thursday, she stayed calm after a long rain interruption to run out a comfortable 6-3, 6-4 winner against Slovenian Petra Rampre.
In addition to Annika Beck, four other Germans are in the Wimbledon main draw - Angelique Kerber, Sabine Lisicki, Julia Görges and Mona Barthel.
