Saina keeps Indian hopes alive by advancing to Final of Djarum Indonesia Open

The semi-finals of the Djarum Indonesia Open brought mixed fortunes for the Indian shuttlers. Kashyap Parupalli was knocked out of the tournament but Saina won her match to advance to the women's singles final. Saina continued to build good momentum in the run up to the Olympics by beating world no.4 Ji Hyun Sung from Korea 22-20, 21-18 in a tightly contested match. Indonesia's Simon Santoso though made easy work of Kashyap, handing the Indian a 21-15, 21-12 defeat. Saina will be square-off against China's Xuerui Li in tomorrow's final.

In women's doubles, both the Chinese pairs- Xiaoli Wang - Yang (F) Yu and Quin Tian - Yunlei Zhao have reached the final. The teams are presently ranked 1st and 2nd in the world, respectively. It will be interesting to see both battle it out on the court tomorrow.

In men's singles final, Santoso will be up against China's Pengyu Du. Pengyu Du bucketed Hong Kong's Yun Hu today, thereby securing his pass to the finals in the tournament.

In men's doubles, Denmark's Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen defeated Malaysia's Kien Keat Koo and Boon Heong Tang with a 21-15, 21-11 scoreline. In the other match, Korea's Jae Sung Jung and Yong Dae Lee defeated Indonesia's Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan.

In mixed doubles, Indonesia's Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir thrashed China's Chen Xu and Jin Ma. Their match was followed by Korean shuttlers Sung Hyun Ko and Hye Won Eom's defeat at the hands of the Thai pairing of Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thoungthongkam.
