Hosts Japan to play Mexico in the opening match of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup

Japan will play Mexico in the opening match of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Japan 2012 in Miyagi.

The Official Draw took place today, 4 June, at the Conrad Hotel in Tokyo. The draw was presided over by Tatjana Haenni, FIFA's Head of Women's competitions, and carried out by four star members of Japan's 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup champions, Homare Sawa, Kozue Ando, Azusa Iwashimizu and Saki Kumagai. Also assisting were Nogizaka 46, a local pop-chart toppers adding some youth-orientated colour for the assembled audience.

The tournament will be played in Miyagi, Saitama, Kobe, Hiroshima and Tokyo from 19 August to 8 September 2012.
