The final day of the West Zone Qualifier of the Tata Steel Amateur Golf Tournament 2012 held at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club saw 5 players fighting for the top 2 spots before the start of the final round with Mr. Kailash Dhiwar emerging as the winner of the Qualifier Round.
Kailash Dhiwar, who is from RSI Club, Pune, shot a steady 2 over round and won the championship by just one stroke. The Runners-up for the tournament was Amarjeet Baisoya from Delhi who had a bogey on the last hole and finished 3 over for the round and lost by just one shot to Kailash Dhiwar.
Speaking on his performance in the tournament Mr. Kailash Dhiwar said, "This is my first win in the IGU Amateur circuit and I hope to continue this form in the coming Amateur events in Pune and try to succeed to higher levels. I would like to thank my coach and all the people who supported me. I would like to thank the sponsor TATA Steel for sponsoring such a prestigious event."
As the runner up for the Tournament Mr. Amarjeet Baisoya said, "I was very disappointed on making a bogey on the final hole, though I was looking for a play-off with winner, but I look forward to the Amateur events in the coming weeks."
Moving forward the TATA Steel Interstate Golf Championship will be played at the scenic Oxford Golf & Country Club, Pune from 01 - 04 May 2012 and the top 30 players of the West Zone Qualifier will move on to the next level of the tournament.
