The most coveted Brazilian star on the planet, Neymar, has reportedly inched a step closer to sealing a move from Santos to Barcelona. The Spanish radio station, Cadena SER, claims that Barca have won the race to sign the 20 year old, who will continue to stay at Santos for two more years before moving to the Nou Camp in 2014. The report also suggests that Barca will play 1/4th of the £50m transfer now and the rest in 2014.

This is a blow to Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City as all three clubs have been tracking the player for a long time and a bidding war was set to ensue. But Neymar's insistence to stay in Brazil for the next few years had kept the suitors at bay. With pace to burn and archetypal Samba footwork, Neymar has been hailed as the next big thing in Brazil. Already an established player at the International level, Neymar was named the South American Footballer of the Year in 2011.

IF Barcelona have indeed captured the talented striker, the quality oozing through the Catalan outfit would be unimaginable. They have a plethora of attacking options with the irrepressible Lionel Messi, Alexis Sanchez, Pedro, Cesc Fabregas and Andres Iniesta and the addition of Neymar to that line-up is bound to send shivers across the rest of Europe.
