Cricket Australia (CA) today announced that Townsville will host an U19 International Quadrangular Series in April between Australia, England, India and New Zealand.
Tony Ireland Stadium and Endeavour Park will be the host venues for the four competing nations, who will use the tournament as a key warm-up event ahead of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup in Queensland in August this year.
The Quad Series will conclude with semi-finals on Friday 13 April and finals on Sunday 15 April and all matches are limited-overs using standard ICC One-Day International playing conditions.
CA General Manager Operations, Geoff Allardice said the series would provide Townsville and Queensland Cricket a terrific opportunity as they prepare to host ICC U19 Cricket World Cup matches.
"Townsville is one of the three key centres that will host ICC U19 Cricket World Cup matches and I'm sure they are looking forward to welcoming teams for this Quad Series in April as they prepare for the main event in August," Allardice said.
"Townsville has played host to Australia A matches and interstate matches in the past so we know the community loves their cricket and I'm sure they will embrace this series which will showcase the next David Warner.
