Chennai will see 80 amateur golfers compete for a place on the TAKE Chennai amateur team that will represent the city alongside India's top professionals in the richest domestic golf event on the PGTI Circuit - the Louis Philippe Cup. The club qualifier to be held at the Madras Gymkana Club on 5th February is the second amateur qualifying event for the TAKE Chennai Team.
The winning amateur golfer from Madras Gymkana Club will be part of the TAKE Chennai amateur team along with V. Manoharan, the winner of the qualifiers held in Coimbatore Golf Club. The amateur team will get a chance to play alongside Arjuna Awardee Gaurav Ghei, the two times European Tour winner SSP Chowrasia and winner of The Global Green Bangalore Open 2011, Sri Lankan golfer Anura Rohana and compete for the Louis Philippe Cup Inter-City Pro-Am title to be held on the 7th and 8th of March, 2012 at the Louis Philippe Cup.
With the pro team of 3 golfers already announced, TAKE Chennai is awaiting the qualifiers who will be part of the amateur team, along with V Manoharan. The qualifying round at the Madras Gymkana Club will be followed by the final round of qualifiers to be held at the Cosmopolitan Club.
About the Louis Philippe Cup:
The Louis Philippe Cup, with its new IPL-style format, and Rs.1.20 crore purse will be the richest domestic event on the PGTI calendar. All the top ranked golfers on the PGTI circuit including former Asian Tour Player of the Year Jyoti Randhawa, European Tour regular Shiv Kapur, two time European Tour winner SSP Chowrasia, two time Asian Tour winner Gaganjeet Bhullar, 2011 Asian Tour winner Anirban Lahiri, 2011 Singapore Classic winner Himmat Rai and current No.1 in the Rolex-PGTI rankings Chiragh Kumar have confirmed their participation in the extravaganza.
