The city's oldest golf club is all set tobe a part of the latest innovation in the format of the sport as over 100 golfers get set to tee off for a place on the Puravankara Bangalore amateur team. It will be a heady mix of the old-world charm of Bangalore combined with the sheen of innovation as the final qualifiers for the inaugural edition of the Louis Philippe Cup gets underway at the Bangalore Golf Club on 4th February.
All eyes will be on the Bangalore Golf Club as golf lovers of the city wait with bated breath to see who will be the final qualifier for the Puravankara Bangalore amateur team, especially after all the calculations were upset in the Karnataka Golf Association and Eagleton Qualifiers. B. K. Satish beat one of India's top amateurs Chikkarangappa in the Eagleton qualifiers, while 14-year-old Trisha from Karnataka Golf Association pipped the fancied Khalin Joshi and Toyota IGU played of the year Syed Sakib Ahmed for a spot on the Puravankara Bangalore amateur team. With the usual names missing out on qualifying for the Puravankara Bangalore amateur team, Louis Philippe Cup has helped unearth a new breed of talented amateur golfers from the city and we will have to wait and see if the trend continues with the Bangalore Golf Club qualifiers as well.
The winning amateur golfer from Bangalore Golf Club along with veteran golfer B. K Satish from Eagleton and Trisha S. Kumar from Karnataka Golf Association will form the Puravankara Bangalore amateur team. The amateur team, along with the Puravankara Bangalore pro team comprising of Panasonic Open winner Anirban Lahiri, Delhi golfer Manav Jaini and city's upcoming golfer Abhishek Jha will carry the hopes of the city in the Louis Philippe Cup Inter City pro-am title to be held on the 7th and 8th of March, 2012 at the Louis Philippe Cup.
