Local hero Angelo Que hopes to gift his new born baby girl with the ICTSI Philippine Open title next week. Que welcomed his first child to the family, Chandra Angela Locsin-Que, late last year and she will provide the three-time Asian Tour champion with the added inspiration at the US$300,000 event.

He will spearhead the local challenge at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club alongside Filipino star Frankie Minoza, highly rated Miguel Tabuena and Asian Tour regular Mars Pucay.

"I'm playing for a family now. You have to think about your family. It is a different perspective but I like it now. It is bigger a responsibility but I like having responsibilities," said Que, known for his easy-going character on Tour.

"You always get excited playing in your national open. It is the start of the year and you are not pressured to try and keep your card. You want a fresh start and that's the best way. I think everybody is pretty excited especially in the Philippines," he added.

Que, who won his national open in 2008, hopes that consistency will prevail in the new season.

"I haven't had a year where I played consistently. I'm trying to change that because the problem with me is physical strength. I lack in that department so I'm going to get my body strong to play in more tournaments consistently," he said.

This year's ICTSI Philippine Open will also enjoy a new landmark as the event will be beamed live over four days on the established Asian Tour television platform, which reaches 200 countries and over 645 million homes.

"This is probably the first time we will get live for four days so it is good publicity for golf in the Philippines and hopefully people will watch at home and also come out to give us the support," said the 33-year-old.
