Queensland has claimed the Cricket Australia Under-19 male National Championship, following a dominant tournament in which they dropped only one match. It is the first time Queensland has taken home the Kookaburra Shield since 2000-01, with the tournament wrapping up on the weekend.

South Australia's Travis Head was named Player of the Championship following consistent performances across all formats of the game. He also finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer, with a total of 442 runs, more than 100 runs clear of his nearest competitor. Head notched two centuries, two half-centuries and finished with an average of 55.25.

Meanwhile, the Under-18 female National Championship concluded on Tuesday with New South Wales claiming the title over traditional rivals Victoria.

It is the eighth straight year that New South Wales have taken home the Betty Butcher Shield.

After a close tournament the race for a place in the main final came down to the last preliminary round. New South Wales and Victoria recorded impressive wins and claimed bonus points to win their way through to the final.

Queensland, who were unlucky to miss out on the main final, produced the Player of the Championship in Jemma Barsby. Barsby proved handy with the bat and ball in all forms of the game. One of her best performances came in her side's 202-run win over Tasmania where she scored 153 runs, which was the highest ever individual score by a Queensland player at the Under-18 National Championships. Barsby also finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer, with a total of 268 runs at an average of 38.29.
