The WWE gets set to welcome the new year with some really exciting wrestling action, and the WWE Universe is in for a wild ride. Here's what to expect if you are one of the thousands of eager fans in India:
Raw (Thursday 3 pm IST):
CM Punk seems to have taken his fight against authority to the next level, with his repeated mocking of John Lauranitis finally earning him the wrath of the Interim Raw General Manager on the Slammy Awards edition of Raw. This week, the WWE Champion has promised to call Lauranitis out, with the intentions of challenging him to a match, and it will be interesting to see how the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations handles this situation, seeing how desperate he is to beat some respect into the Second City Saviour.
Speaking of respect, Cody Rhodes's eternal disrespect towards Booker-T has driven the veteran ring announcer to another match against the Intercontinental Champion. The last time these two squared off, Rhodes attacked Booker twice prior to the match, leaving him in no condition to defend himself when the bout actually began. But this week, the former six-time world champion will be watching his back, and will be looking for some serious retribution.
The new United States Champion Zack Ryder will be in action as he teams up with Eve Torres as they face Tyson Kidd and Natalya. The former members of the Hart Dynasty have lost some of the sheen they used to carry around themselves, and a win over the current US Champion and a former Divas Champion will go a long way in re-establishing their worth in the locker room.
And finally, John Cena will be looking for some serious retribution when he heads into Raw tonight. Cena has been subjected to repeated attacks from the 'resurrected' Kane, who has singled out Cena ever since he returned to the WWE on the Slammy Awards edition on Raw. Hopefully, this week we will get some answers as to what motives the Big Red Monster has behind his animosity towards the Cenation Commander-in-Chief.
All this and much more this Thursday on Raw.
SMACKDOWN (Friday3 pm IST):
World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan is on cloud nine, especially after the winning streak he has picked up after cashing in his Money in the Bank contract at TLC. And now, the two giants who fought over the same prize on the same night want nothing less than a chance to rip the new champion apart. Both Mark Henry and Big Show have equally legitimate claims at a rematch for the big gold belt, and it will be interesting to see how Theodore Long resolves this one. As for the champion, he will be in action as well, still resolved to silence all his critics who keep claiming that his reign is nothing but a Cinderella story.
Among other things, Randy Orton and Wade Barrett will square off in the main event of the night, and this time it will be a Falls Count Anywhere match. These two have taken each other to the limit, each having put the other through tables, and this match will be a fitting conclusion to their extremely physical rivalry, and it will be interesting to see which one of these gladiators wins the final battle.
One of the newest additions to the SmackDown roster, Hunico, will be in action against Justin Gabriel, but the surprise element in this match will be Hunico's new associate, Comacho, and it will be the WWE Universe's first chance to get to know Hunico's dear 'amigo'. Also squaring off will be Jindar Mahal and Ted DiBiase, in what might be Mahal's last chance to prove his superiority over the Million Dollar Son. He will have the support of his fans here in India, but it remains to be seen whether that will be enough to finally end his losing streak.
And finally, watch out for all your favourite superstars like Sheamus, Heath Slater ,, Alicia Fox and Beth Phoenix as they all come together to sign things off for the yearwith a bang!
NXT (Sunday 5 pm IST):
Witness the final two combatants of NXT: Redemption fight it out in a sweries of challenging contests to determine the next breakout star of the WWE.
Vintage Collection (Thursday, Friday, Saturday 8:30 am IST):
Hall of Famer 'Mean' Gene Okerlund hosts a collection of the best wrestling matches from the yesteryears in this one-of-a-kind show.
YouTube video of the week: Triple H vs Undertaker for the Undisputed WWE Championship
