The WWE Universe is still reeling from the aftermath of Survivor Series, but the warriors have already started to gear up for the next milestone, which is the TLC (Tables, Ladders and Chairs) Pay-Per-View. With that in mind, here's what lies in store for the fans this week:
Raw (Thursday 6:30 pm/ 10:30 pm IST):
John Cena has been in something of turmoil in recent weeks with the fans seeming to have had a 'Attitude Adjustment' against him. This week, he will have a little help in building his image in front of the crowd from none other than a WWE Hall of Famer, 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper. Cena will be a special guest on Piper's renowned talk show 'Piper's Pit', and given the hyper-aggressive attitude of the Piper, sparks may fly between the two men in the ring. Will all help Cena get back his fan base? Or will the boos from the crowd grow even louder? We will find out on Raw.
WWE Champion CM Punk will have to face Alberto Del Rio for the championship, as Del Rio has invoked his mandatory rematch clause. It has just been two weeks since the Straight Edge Superstar won the title at Survivor Series, and it will be a real shame if his latest reign is reduced to a mere fortnight. Will Del Rio rise and shine again? Or will Punk make the Mexican Aristocrat tap out one more? Watch Raw this week to find out.
Two superstars who have been on something of a losing streak will be trying to prove a point this week, the two being John Morrison and the Miz, as they face each other in a Falls Count Anywhere match. While Morrison has to shake off the fact that he has not won a single match of significance in months, Miz has to come to terms with being back as a singles competitor after the implosion of Awesome Truth. These two former tag team partners will surely set the ring on fire as they square off in the middle of the squared circle.
Vickie Guerrero's clients will be in action in separate singles matches this week, as the United States Champion Dolph Ziggler will face Randy Orton, Jack Swagger will be facing a resurgent Zack Ryder. The match will be yet another opportunity for Ryder to convince John Lauranitis that he deserves yet another shot at the United States Championship. Will he be able to make full use of it? That remains to be seen.
For all this and lots of other wrestling action, tune in to Raw.
SMACKDOWN (Friday 6:30/10:30 pm IST):
The Hardcore Legend, Mick Foley will be back as the special guest host for a special holiday season edition of SmackDown, where he will get all the rights of the General Manager. This means that he can make any kind of match that he wants for the night. Foley has always intrigued and surprised us with his baffling manners, and this SmackDown is sure to carry some really extraordinary surprises for the fans.
One match has already been made, and it will see Daniel Bryan against the World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry inside the confines of a Steel Cage. Mark Henry is still a bit jaded after suffering a beat-down at the hands of the Big Show at Survivor Series, and he will have to wrestle with a taped ankle. On the other hand, Daniel Bryan has just shaken off a huge losing streak, and does not want to wait till WrestleMania to get his hands on the world title. It will be technique, athleticism and in-ring prowess against sheer strength and brute force inside the demonic steel structure. Who will come out on top with the gold? Watch SmackDown to find out.
It was reported on WWE.com that two of the matches Foley is very interested in making are a 'mistletoe' match, where all the Divas in the roster will be fighting for a prize, and an 'All I want for Christmas' battle royal, which will see 20 members of the SmackDown roster battling it out in the ring. Both these matches look promising to be real treats for the fans.
All this and a lot more f wrestling action, with all your favorite superstars coming your way this Friday on SmackDown.
NXT (Sunday 6:30/ 10:30 pm IST):
NXT: Redemption enters its final phase as Darren Young, Derrick Bateman and Percy Jackson fight it out for the chance to become WWE's next breakout star.
YouTube video of the week:
Match: Brock Lesnar vs Undertaker in a biker chain match for the WWE Championship
Venue: No Mercy 2003
The only biker chain match in WWE history, this match was the highlight of the Undertaker’s ‘Big Evil’ persona.
