This festive season, the fans in India are in for some really explosive wrestling action, as both the flagship shows will be airing from the land where professional wrestling originated, Mexico City. Also, this will be the last week before Vengeance, and the last chance for all the mind games to be played. With all that in mind, here's a sneak preview of what to expect when WWE comes from the country of Lucha Libre wrestling:
Raw (Thursday 5 pm/10:30 pm IST):
John Lauranitis assumes office as the interim General Manager of Raw, and it would be interesting to see how he chooses to fix the 'unstable work environment' created by his predecessor. Speaking of his predecessor, Triple H will be forming an unlikely alliance with CM Punk as they take on the Miz and R-Truth at Vengeance, and the Game will be in Punk's corner as he faces the Miz in a singles contest as a warm-up for Vengeance. The match will be something of an indication of whether Triple H and Punk can put their past rivalry aside and watch each other's back, otherwise they will be in big trouble heading into a match with a team as formidable as the Miz and R-Truth.
The WWE Champion, Alberto Del Rio will be really excited to be back in his homeland of Mexico, as will his Mexican fans. But Del Rio will have his hands full, as his challenger for Vengeance, John Cena will be gunning for him throughout the show. We might even see the two get into the ring against each other as they try to send out a final message to each other before Vengeance. It will be very interesting to see who heads into the WWE Championship match with the greater momentum and hence, the psychological edge.
Vickie Guerrero and her clients will have their hands full this week on Raw, as Jack Swagger will face WWE's newest powerhouse Mason Ryan, while Ziggler will take on the self-proclaimed internet champion, Zack Ryder. We can rest assured that Air Boom will keep a close eye on these matches, as they are scheduled to defend the tag team championships against Ziggler and Swagger at Vengeance.
For all this and much more, tune in this Thursday to Raw.
SmackDown (5 pm/10: 30 pm IST):
This week's SmackDown will be aiming to give the Mexican fans a dash of their favourite wrestling action as two huge matches have been announced with Mexican stalwarts in the spotlight. The WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio will face the challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship, the World's Largest Athlete, the Big Show. Show has been dominating and destroying anyone and everyone who has crossed his path ever since his return from injury, including the World Heavyweight Champion, Mark Henry. And this week on SmackDown, it will be Show's last chance to get a message across to the champion. For Del Rio, the night will be all about survival, as his only aim will be to come out of this match unscathed, so that he can be a 100% in his title defence against John Cena.
The two Sin Caras issue will finally be settled once and for all this week on SmackDown as Sin Cara Azul (blue) will face Sin Cara Negro (black) in a mask vs. mask match, i.e., the loser will have his mask ripped off his face. This will be something the fans in Mexico will enjoy to the fullest, as the two competitors perfectly blend the traditional high-flying Mexican style of Lucha Libre with the more aggressive WWE style of wrestling. And at the end of this intense match-up, one Sin Cara will finally have a face.
Also, watch out for Cody Rhodes, as he looks to explain his actions from this past week on SmackDown, where he cost Randy Orton the world Heavyweight Championship in the main event. Orton and Rhodes are scheduled to square off at Vengeance, and this week will be a perfect opportunity for them to get inside the head of their opponent. And finally, look out for your favourite superstars like John Morrison, Sheamus and Zack Ryder as they will all be in action, giving you the best action sports entertainment has ever seen.
Vengeance (Sunday 11: 30 am/ 10: 30 pm IST):
Vengeance finds its place in the WWE Pay-Per-View calendar after five years, and promises to be a mind-blowing extravaganza. Watch out for some high-octane action as John Cena challenges Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship in a Last Man Standing match, and the World's Strongest Man, Mark Henry defends the World Heavyweight Championship against the World's Largest Athlete, the 7-feet tall, 450 pound giant, the Big Show. Also, big time retribution will be on the cards when Randy Orton faces Cody Rhodes, Sheamus takes on Christian, and Triple H and CM Punk team up against R-Truth and the Miz. And finally, Dolph Ziggler will be involved in not one, but two title matches as he will not only challenge Air Boom for the tag titles along with Jack Swagger, but will also defend the United States title against Zack Ryder.
