Peter Crouch became the third player to leave Tottenham Hotspur for Stoke City in the summer, as the England international put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Potters on deadline day. Stoke, not a side which regularly splashes its cash on players, had to fork out a club record £10 million for the 6'7" striker, with the possibility of Crouch's deal rising to £12 million depending on clauses that get triggered during Crouch's stay at the Britannia.

30-year old journeyman Crouch, who has earlier played for QPR, Portsmouth, Aston Villa, Norwich, Southampton, and Liverpool, is expected to be a perfect fit in a Stoke side which relies on its aerial threats and possesses many players that can use their height to their advantage.

Speaking about the signings of Crouch, as well as his Spurs teammate Wilson Palacios and Birmingham striker Cameron Jerome, Stoke's chief executive Tony Scholes said : "These fantastic deals are a statement of this football club's intent.

"The club has made incredible strides forward over the past five years and to attract players of this calibre shows our ambitions as we look to continue that progress this season and beyond that."

Potters' manager Tony Pulis voiced his excitement after the Crouch deal was done, saying: Peter has an excellent goalscoring record at the highest level. His goals-per-games ratio for England is remarkable and he scored seven goals in 10 Champions League games for Tottenham last season which gives you an idea of his pedigree."

Crouch bagged 24 goals for Tottenham in his 82 appearances for the club.
