Fulham Football Club have signed Costa Rican international Bryan Ruiz from FC Twente on a 4-year contract for a fee believed to be around the £10.6m mark. He has won 43 international caps, and has 9 goals to his credit.

Ruiz, 26, started his senior career in 2003 with local club Alajuelense before moving to Belgian side K.A.A Gent in the summer of 2006. He then rose in stature at the club, scoring 26 goals in 79 appearances before being signed by Dutch side FC Twente in 2009. In his two seasons with the club, Ruiz has made 61 appearances and has also managed to find the back of the net a whopping 39 times. Apart from being a speedy winger, the stats clearly show Ruiz' scoring credentials and he will undoubtedly add some firepower to a Fulham side that is yet to register a win in the league this season.

Fulham manager Martin Jol had this to say about his new signing, “Bryan Ruiz was always our intended target. He is a player who continues to attract interest from other top clubs so naturally I’m very happy, on this final day of the transfer window, that he has decided to join Fulham.”

The attacking midfielder added, “I’m really happy to be joining Fulham Football Club and playing under Martin Jol who is a manager I admire from his time managing in Holland for Ajax. I chose to come to Fulham because it feels more personal than other clubs I have visited."

I’m looking forward to meeting up with the whole squad when most of the players return from the international break and getting to work straight away with the team in preparation for some important fixtures.”

Fulham have also signed veteran Czech defender Zdenek Grygera and Portuguese striker Orlando Sa on deadline day. Both players have signed on a free transfer after having been released by their parent clubs, Juventus and Porto respectively.
