The draw to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil began with Africa as the first continent to be assigned its matches. The picturesque island of Seychelles was the first name pulled out of the hat first as the draw for the first round kicked off. The 12 winners of the 1st round head into the 10 Groups, of which Group C already looks like the proverbial 'Group of Death' with Ivory Coast and Morocco paired together, along with Gambia and the winner of the Chad vs Tanzania round 1 contest. Group H can also lay claim to being a tough group as Algeria and Mali are the big guns along side Benin.
Heavyweights Ghana have been drawn in Group D along with Zambia and Sudan while Egypt have a fairly straightforward group involving Guinea and Zimbabwe. 2010 FIFA World Cup hosts South Africa are in Group A with Bostwana and the Central African Republic while Cameroon are in drawn in the group along with Libya, Guinea-Bissau/ Togo, Swaziland/Congo DR
The qualifying process for Africa begins with a 1st round involving 24 of the lowest-ranked countries taking part in a two-legged affair. 12 teams make it through to the 2nd round, where they will join the top 28 countries to complete the African pool. The 40 teams are now divided into 10 groups of four each, with the winners of each group heading into the final round, where five knockout ties will decide the five representatives from the continent.

- Comoros vs Mozambique
- Equatorial Guinea vs Madagascar
- Somalia vs Ethiopia

- Sao Tome e Principe v Congo
- Chad vs Tanzania

B: Sierra Leone, Cape Verde, Tunisia, Match 6 Winner
C: Ivory Coast, Morocco, Gambia, Match 12 Winner
D: Sudan, Zambia, Ghana, Match 8 Winner
E: Niger, Gabon, Burkina Faso, Match 11 Winner
F: Malawi, Match 1 Winner, Nigeria, Match 3 Winner
G: Guinea, Zimbabwe, Egypt, Match 5 Winner

I: Libya, Match 2 Winner, Cameroon, Match 10 Winner
J: Uganda, Angola, Senegal, Match 4 Winner
