The fine print in contract documents have long been like paintings of cavemen from 3000 years ago, i.e they are open to interpretation. Case in point- Phil Jones' transfer to Manchester United. United reportedly took advantage of a £16 million relapse clause in the defender's contract to seal a deal. But Blackburn have raised doubts over United's interpretations of the clause, claiming a £16 million offer merely allowed the player to open talks with suitors and that Blackburn hold the right to open an auction. In an interesting turn of events, the Sunday Mail claims that Liverpool have hijacked United's bid by making a reported £22million offer. But, Jones, who passed a medical at United earlier this week, is keen on a move to Manchester rather than Liverpool and even United are confident they have sealed the service of the 19 year-old.

The Sunday Telegraph claims Roman Abramovich has upped the stakes in his bid to land Brazilian wonderkid Neymar. Reports suggest that Chelsea have lodged an official bid for the 19 year old believed to be in the region £30 million. The striker is keen to spend another year in Brazil before moving out to Europe, but the lure of fashionable King's Road and a reported £70,000 per-week might tempt him to move to Chelsea.

Marcos Senna could finally be heading to the Premier League, but not with one of the top four clubs he has constantly been linked with over the past few years. The club in question is Premier League new-comers Swansea City, who have reportedly contacted the midfielder, whose contract with Villarreal expired at the end of the season. His agent Ely Coimbra was quoted saying that the offer from Swansea is attractive, so could well see the once La Liga Player of the Year and the star of Spain's Euro 2008 victory plying his trade at the Liberty Stadium come August.

Done Deals

Sunderland have sealed the deal that will see South Korean International Ji Dong-won make a move from K-League side Chunnam Dragons to North-East England. The fee is reported to be in the region of £625,000 to £800,000 with a three-year contract being stitched up. An excited Dong-won told the Korea Times that he wishes to emulate Park Ji-Sung and Lee Chung-yong once he lands in England next month as he joins the squad for the pre-season tour.

Spicy Rumour of the Day

Bayern Munich have put the cat among the pigeons in the Samir Nasri saga as the Mail reports that the German giants are ready to splash the cash to secure the services of the Frenchman. Nasri has just one year left on his contract at Arsenal, thus making him an attractive prospect for various clubs. Manchester United are also said to be interested in the player and with Manchester City not too short on cash either, a three-way battle for the 23 year-old is on.

Sounds Realistic

The Metro suggests that QPR could be in for Andrew Johnson as the Fulham striker was reportedly deemed to be surplus to demands at Fulham. The 30 year old has been blighted by injuries over the past few years, but if fit should provide Neil Warnock with a few goals and a lot more penalty shouts (lookup Crystal Palace 2004-05 season)

Rumours linked with QPR don't end there as midfielder Sully Muntari is also warming up for life in London after Sunderland decided not to extend his loan spell deal Inter Milan. The Ghanaian told Sky Sports that he fancies a move to the newcomers and even drawing parallels to his successful time at Portsmouth as proof of his exploits in England.

Birmingham City have confirmed that they are ready to sell Roger Johnson as they begin to take stock of the cost of relegation. The 28 year old defender's agent Paul Smith told Talk Sport that it was matter of when, not if, Johnson finds greener pastures elsewhere after the club had informed him that they are ready to let him go.

The Mail claims Manchester City have placed an astonishing £4 million price tag on Craig Bellamy. The striker, who was on loan at Cardiff City last season, has two-years left in his contract and City are keen to get a return on a player they brought to Eastlands for £15 million. Everton and Bolton were reportedly interested in the striker, but City's hard stance might well have cooled their interest.

French full-back Serger Aurier could be leaving Lens for England according to the Mirror, with Manchester City and Blackburn Rovers reportedly interested in the 18 year-old. Lens were relegated to the 2nd tire of French football last season and it is believed that they are ready to listen to offers in the range of £3 million. The striker himself told La Voix du Nord that he has been in contact with English clubs and he would like to move to the next level in the Premier League.

The Mirror reports that Kenny Dalglish has been handed the biggest transfer-kitty in the history of Liverpool. The Scot reportedly has £80million to splurge as he aims to rebuild the squad and with the £20million purchase of Jordan Henderson done and dusted he has set his sights on his other targets. Southampton winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is top on Liverpool's wish list at the moment and after missing out to Manchester United for Phil Jones, Gary Cahill, Roger Johnson and Scott Dann have come up as possible recruits.

The Mirror also reports that Liverpool are keen to sign Santi Cazorla from Villarreal for a reported fee of £18million. Kenny Dalglish is eager to add more quality to his midfield, in spite of the capture of Jordan Henderson. Pepe Reina has reportedly been talking up the 26 year-old and with Liverpool badly in need of winger we could well see the Spanish International in the red of Merseyside.

According to the Mail, Sunderland have seemingly beaten Liverpool to the post for the services of Ipswich striker Connor Wickham. The 18 year-old, currently with the England U-21 squad at the European Championships, might find the prospect of regular first team action at Sunderland an attractive option. Sunderland have a few quid in the bank following the £20 million sale of Jordan Henderson to Liverpool and are ready to bid up to £10 million for the striker.

Staying with Liverpool, Joe Cole could be on his way out of Anfield, with the Mirror reporting that Fulham are interested in the midfielder. Cole endured a harrowing first season at Liverpool and with Kenny Dalglish driven to bring in young talent, the 30 year-old is expected to be shown the exit door. Martin Jol is even open to making an initial loan offer, with an eye on a permanent deal later.

To bring the Merseyside flavour to an end, Liverpool striker Daniel Pacheco could well extend his loan spell at Norwich City according to the Mirror. The 20 year-old played a huge part in the Canaries promotion to the Premier League, but with Liverpool making expensive purchases in the striker's department this year, Pacheco will find it hard to get a regular place in the starting line-up.

West Ham have rejected a bid from Fenerbache for midfielder Scott Parker reports The Mirror. The official bid form the Turkish giants was turned down by the club after the player declared he had no intentions to move to the Turkish club. Parker is eager to stay in London and is reportedly working towards a move to either Arsenal or Tottenham. West Ham's evaluation of £8million could prove to be a stumbling block, especially with the player closing in on his 31st birthday.

Arsenal and Tottenham are fighting over Danish starlet Christian Eriksen according to the Mirror. The midfielder is currently in the U-21 European Championships with Denmark and was reportedly watched by both clubs during Denmark's clash with Switzerland. The 19 year old has come through the famed Ajax Academy and after being voted as Dutch football talent of the year, major clubs around Europe are sure to be hovering around like vultures.

Blackburn Rovers are reportedly interested in Auxerre attacker Ireneusz Jelen according to the Mirror. The Polish International is said to be on the move after spending five years in Ligue 1 and with a record of 48 goals in 138 games for Auxerre, you understand why Blackburn are interested in the 30 year-old.

Peter Crouch is ready to snub Sunderland's advances as he aims to fight for a place at Tottenham. The Mirror reported that Black Cats are ready to make a £10million bid for the 30 year-old and with Spurs in search of new attacking talent, Crouch could well be fourth in the pecking order. But the striker was quoted saying that he is happy at the club and is looking forward to the future.

The Mirror claims Chelsea have put a £20million price tag on young Daniel Sturridge to fend off prospective suitors. The striker, currently at the U-21 Championships with England, prospered on loan at Bolton last season and with first-team action restricted at Stamford Bridge, it was reported that the striker was keen to find alternatives. But Chelsea are desperate to hold on to any young talent provided the age of their squad as they begin their rebuilding process following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti.

No Way Jose rumour:

Sensational news is never far behind when Cristaino Ronaldo is around. The Mirror claims that the 26 year old has reportedly told close aides that there has been contact between the winger and a third-party representing Manchester City over a possible move. But Ronaldo's demands are pretty straight-forward as he claims that he needs a £400k-per-week wage packet along with being given the No.7 jersey and being handed the Captain's armband. The Real Madrid star also wants a guarantee that he will be the highest paid player in the club. Whoever said that modern players are pampered prima-donnas is sure to have egg on his face now, or maybe not.
