The clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Rajasthan Royals ended without a ball being bowled as nature became the party pooper. Heavy showers in Bangalore ensured that the brave Chinnaswamy crowd would leave the stands without witnessing even the toss. The game was crucial for both teams as they were coming off poor results and needed some genuine impetus to re-ignite their sluggish campaign. Both teams would have looked forward to this clash very much as in eachother they had opponents low on confidence and form. For a neutral's eye this game would have been a clash between two inconsistent teams and it would have been a treat to see which of them came out on top.
The rain ensures that both teams share the spoils and receive one point a piece. The 'no-result' helps no-one's cause as both teams were in desperate need for 2 points to climb up the ladder. The draw takes Rajasthan to 2nd place with 5 points behind the Knight Riders. The Royals have played 5 games and have played more games than most teams in the league and hence, it is all but certain that they will be usurped from their inflated league position. Bangalore with 3 points out of a possible 10 continue at the bottom of the IPL echelon. They unlike the Royals should stay stagnand in their 9th place for a while considering the fact that teams above them have 1 or 2 games in hand.
The Royals next take on the Kings XI Punjab whose resurgence will be a huge concern for Shane Warne. The day off should help the players recuperate and replenish their tired bodies and one expects them to give a good account of themselves on Thursday the 21st April at the PCA Stadium in Mohali.
The Royal Challengers take on the solid and confident league leaders Kolkata Knight Riders at the intimidating Eden Gardens a day later. The Royals Challengers would have hoped to beat the Royals and taken the momentum forward to give Knight Riders a good game, but will have it all to do when they meet the lion in its own den.
