Barclays Premier League:

The competition for the Barclays Premier League crown will heat up this weekend as Arsenal take on Roberto Martinez’ Wigan side on Saturday. League leaders Manchester United’s game against Birmingham at Old Trafford will also take place at the same time as that of the Gunners’. Saturday will also feature Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United play Newcastle United and Aston Villa respectively.

All the Premier League teams with the exclusion of Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion will have Sunday off as a round of midweek fixtures follow. The early hours of Tuesday morning will witness Chelsea face Bolton Wanderers away from home, while Wednesday features United playing their second game in 3 days as they face their rearranged fixture at Bloomfield Road against Blackpool.

Wednesday will also witness a relegation scrap between Aston Villa and Wigan Athletic, while Thursday’s lone fixture is Liverpool’s trip to Craven Cottage to face Mark Hughes’ Fulham side.

La Liga:

Spanish Champions Barcelona play Racing Santander at home during the early hours of Saturday, while second place Real Madrid play Mallorca the following day. 3rd place Villareal play midtable Real Sociedad on Sunday as well, while Valencia play Malaga at the Mestalla.

Serie A and Bundesliga:

The Italian League features some important games this weekend as AC Milan play Cesena, while Inter Milan play away at Udinese. Saturday will witness a mammoth fixture as Sampdoria plays Juventus. On Sunday, Napoli play Bari while Lazio play Bologna and Roma host Cagliari. In the German Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund play Stuttgart at home while Bayern Munich and Hannover play Lautern and and Schalke respectively. 3rd place Mainz also have a home game as they play Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen travel to Borussia Monchengladback.
