The Serie A, which is bracing itself for a player strike, completed its 2nd weekend of action this past week. The Saturday games threw up surprising results as AC Milan were stunned 2-0 by Cesena while Cagliari mauled Roma 5-1. In the other game on Saturday, Inter Milan were made to work hard to secure a 2-1 victory over Udinese. On Sunday, giants Juventus were held to a 3-3 draw by Sampdoria.

AC Milan started with a strong line up which included Ronaldinho, Alexander Pato and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Milan started brightly and they had a glorious early opportunity to go in front through Ronaldinho, but his shot was saved by the keeper Francesco Antonioli. Cesena took the lead in the 31st minute through Erion Bogdani, who headed in Matias Schelotto cross. On the stroke of half time, Bogdani turned provider with a glorious ball that split open the Milan defence and Emanuele Giaccherini calmly slotted home to give the home side a 2-0 lead. Milan's day got worse when Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed from the penalty spot with 4 minutes remaining. Cesena produced a very good performance to follow up their opening weekend draw against Roma and the newly promoted side move up to 4th in the table.

Cagliari started their game on the front foot by scoring a goal in the 8th minute thanks to a stunning volley by Daniele Conti. But Roma hit back 10 minutes later through Daniele De Rossi, before a moment of madness changed the nature of the game. Conti was hacked down Nicolas Burdisso in the penalty box which resulted in Burdisso being shown a red card and Roma being awarded a penalty. More importantly, Conti was stretchered off with what appeared to be a serious injury. Alessandro Matri converted the spot kick to put Cagliari in the lead again and ten minutes later Robert Acquafresca headed in to put the home side 3-1 up. Two minutes after the restart, Matri scored his second to put Cagliari in a commanding 4-1 lead. Andrea Lazzari scored late in the game to seal a comprehensive 5-1 victory for the home side. Claudio Ranieri will have to pick up the pieces quickly and prepare the team for their midweek Champions League game against mighty Bayern Munich

Over at the San Siro, Inter Milan turned in a unconvincing display in their win over Udinese. Lucio put the Champions ahead in the 7th minute, when he produced a composed finish at the far post from Wesley Sneijder's corner. Around the half hour mark, Udinese levelled things when Floro Flores ghosted between Lucio and Walter Samuel to head in Alexis Sanchez' cross. Halfway through the 2nd half, Inter were awarded a penalty after Gabriel Angella handled Sneijder's cross. Samuel Eto'o stepped up but his initial attempt was saved by Samir Handanovic, but the striker made no mistake from the rebound and put Inter in the lead. Rafa Benitez finally has a Serie A win under his belt and he'll be looking forward to their Champions League against FC Twente on Tuesday.

Juventus played out an entertaining 3-3 draw against Sampdoria in Turin. Sampdoria took the lead through Nicola Pozzi but Juventus scored on either side of half time, through Claudio Marchisio and Simone Pepe. Antonio Cassano slotted home a few minutes later to level things up before Juventus re-took the lead three minutes later through Fabio Quagliarella. However, Pozzi scored his 2nd goal of the day in the 73rd minute to ensure Sampdoria left with a vital point.

Elsewhere, Chievo continued their great start to the season with a 3-1 win at Genoa. Genoa took the lead through Mattia Destro but Davide Moscardelli, Michele Marcolini and Sergio Pellissier scored for Chievo to help them move to the top of the table. Lecce beat Fiorentina 1-0 thanks to a goal from David Di Michele while Lazio secured a 3-1 win over Bologna, thanks to goals from Stefano Mauri, Tomasso Rocchi and Hernanes.
