Isle of Man's David Kenworthy, visited Ireland over two separate weekends to umpire in their domestic league, it was fantastic development and he was most grateful for the chance to improve his experience.
Richard Smith of Cyprus was assigned by ICC Europe Tournament Referee, Ray Holyer, to help with Southern League matches, as his initial assignment to Ireland was cancelled due to logistical issues. Richard, however was a great asset to the league and gained some excellent knowledge.
Ben Lougheed and Richard Eames both took part in officiating in the U16 County Festival in Jersey. Lougheed stood in the final; he received excellent reports and was praised for his professionalism and overall umpiring abilities. Both would have learnt invaluable skills on the grass pitches.
In addition to the umpires' scholarships, the fund was also used to finance the ICC European Probationary Umpire Panel assessments which included two probationers from Hellas, two from Ireland, two from Scotland and one from Jersey, Netherlands, Switzerland and Guernsey respectively.
There was also the opportunity given to a new ICC European Referee to attend the Division 1 Tournament as training ready for next year.
ICC Regional Development Manager, Richard Holdsworth is delighted with the way the scholarship is working: "It is fantastic to see the rewards from such a great scheme that continues to develop and assist the education of umpires and referees in European in memory of Trevor, whose high standards are being further developed."
