Mortara was the measure of all things in the first race on the Dutch dune circuit. After having started from the pole position, he managed an uncontested start-finish victory. It was his fifth in the current season. Marco Wittmann, who had started from the first row as well, lost one position at the start but finished on the podium as well, in third place. On Sunday, António Félix da Costa and Laurens Vanthoor fought a captivating duel for victory. Félix da Costa from the partner team Motopark Academy, who thanks to an eighth-place finish in the first race had secured the pole position in the reverse starting order for the second round, beat the Belgian to the chequered flag by just 0.2 seconds. After the round at the Nürburgring this was Félix da Costa's second Sunday exploit in a row. Marco Wittmann in sixth place secured the last championship point in the second race. Edoardo Mortara on the other hand left empty-handed for the first time this season. The Italian was turned around by a rival in the early phase of the race which caused him to drop to the rear of the field. Despite setting some clearly faster times than the group of front runners on some of the laps he had to settle for eleventh place.
Kris Nissen, Volkswagen Motorsport Director:
"The Formula 3 Euro Series race weekend at Zandvoort was another very successful one for Volkswagen, its teams and drivers. With a victory on Saturday, Edoardo Mortara has further extended his lead of the standings while António Félix da Costa managed to do the same in the rookie classification thanks to his triumph in the second round. This means that we continue to have optimum changes of securing these titles."

"The weekend had ups and downs for me. On Saturday I clinched another victory but on Sunday I wasn't able to score any points for the first time this season due to a collision, although my car was the quickest one in the field. Still, I managed to further extend my points advantage. If we continue running the way we did on Saturday it'll be difficult for the other drivers to catch up to me."
#13 - António Félix da Costa (Portugal) - Volkswagen Dallara F308 - Team Motopark Academy Qualifying: 9th place - race 1: 8th place - race 2: 1st place
"I'm very happy about having clinched victory again on Sunday. It was more difficult this time than it was at the Nürburgring because my car didn't have the optimum set-up. But fortunately overtaking is very difficult here. The main thing here was to drive consistently and without mistakes and I managed to do that."
