Carlos Queiroz named the 23 member squad representing Portugal in the FIFA World Cup finals this year. The 2006 semifinalists are undefeated in the last 15 games in all competitions and are looking good despite some disappointing draws against minnows of the international arena. They are coming off the back of a 3 - 1 win over Cameroon which wasn't quite as easy as the score line seems to suggest. Portugal are ranked no.3 in the World and a lot is expected of Cristiano Ronaldo and his fellow countrymen in South Africa 2010.

Real Madrid defender Pepe was included in the 23 member squad despite having little first team action in 2010 owing to damaged knee ligaments. Ze Castro of Deportivo La Coruna was struck out from the provisional squad.

Benfica's Quim and Chelsea's reserve goalkeeper Henrique Hilario looked to be considered for the World Cup owing to their age and experience but Queiroz preferred Porto's Beto and Iraklis' Daniel Fernandes  who have little experience in the international arena.
Portugal play Mozambique in their final warm up game before taking stage in the FIFA World Cup of 2010. They are placed in Group G which is the ‘Group of Death' of this year's finals. Brazil, Ivory Coast and North Korea are Portugal's group mates. They will kick start their campaign against Ivory Coast on 15th June.

Goalkeepers: Eduardo (Braga), Daniel Fernandes (Iraklis), Beto (Porto).

Defenders: Miguel (Valencia), Paulo Ferreira (Chelsea), Ricardo Carvalho (Chelsea), Bruno Alves (Porto), Rolando (Porto), Ricardo Costa (Lille), Duda (Malaga), Fabio Coentrao (Benfica).

Midfielders: Pedro Mendes (Sporting), Pepe (Real Madrid), Tiago (Atletico Madrid), Deco (Chelsea), Raul Meireles (Porto), Miguel Veloso (Sporting).

Forwards: Simao Sabrosa (Atletico Madrid), Danny (Zenit St Petersburg), Liedson (Sporting), Hugo Almeida (Werder Bremen), Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Nani (Manchester United).
