Spanish striker David Villa has completed his dream move to Spanish League winners FC Barcelona from Valencia. Los Che received a mammoth £34.2 million from the current champs of Europe and will be hoping to solve some of their financial constraints through the transfer fee. 28-year old Villa has signed a four year deal with the Catalan giants and is said to be unveiled on Friday after the completion of his medical on Thursday. He will be donning the no.7 shirt at the club previously held by likes of Luis Figo.

The forward has been in scintillating form for both club and country in the last couple of years. In his 5 seasons at the Mestalla he has scored more than 100 league goals and helped Valencia qualify for Europe regularly. He was the top scorer in the all-conquering Spain side that went on to win Euro 2008.

He is a potent striker with pace, power and finesse. Villa is considered one of the best strikers in Europe and his transfer to Nou Camp could only be a good sign for the club. He is a proven goal scorer in both the Spanish League and Europe, and would be expected to warm up to Barcelona's style of play immediately.

Both Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thierry Henry will have to fight for their places in the team with Lionel Messi being a staple attacker and Villa coming into the fray. While the Frenchman looks set to move on to the MLS to help enhance the game in America, the Swede's situation is still in limbo with Barcelona pondering whether to give the striker another season, or to palm him off to one of their European rivals. Chelsea or Manchester City could be likely destinations.

David Villa is Barcelona's first signing of the summer and a big money move for Arsenal Captain Cesc Fabregas also seems to be on the cards. With Barcelona effectively creating a second Galacticos, one can see the Catalan giants taking the world by storm as they did in their all conquering 2008-09 season.
