The Cayman Islands today welcomed the arrival of the Queen's Baton Relay 2010 Delhi from Jamaica. Eminent political personnel like the Governor H.E. Mr. Duncan Taylor, Mrs. Marie-Beatrice Taylor and Mr. Mark Scotland, Minister of Sports, from the island attended the relay inauguration ceremony.
The Queen's Baton Relay 2010 Delhi was taken across the whole island by the Batonbearers, which also included a ride along the Seven Mile Beach. ‘Thanks and Praises' a well known reggae band from the island played some music to enthuse the audience in welcoming the Baton to the Cayman islands.
The day came to a close with a reception at the Governor's residence commemorating a memorable visit of the Queen's Baton Relay 2010 Delhi to the Cayman Islands.The Cayman Islands are located in the western Caribbean Sea and are the peaks of a massive underwater ridge, called Cayman Trench. Located at the South of Cuba and northwest of Jamaica, the island is also a major financial offshore centre of the Caribbean.
