Two countries more famous for their hatred seem to have found a thread of love as India's tennis ace Sania Mirza has reportedly been clean bowled by former Pakistan skipper Shoaib Malik!
The news that broke out late on Monday has become the hottest topic of conversation amongst the Asian community on the internet with many players and fans alike questioning first the accuracy of the news and then debating the appropriateness of such a union.
Sania released a statement confirming the rumours. The 23-year old superstar said, ""My wedding is going to be the biggest day of my life. I have been under constant glare of the public for too long and would appreciate more privacy at this very personal moment in my life."Sania broke off her engagement to childhood friend Mohammed Sohrab Mirza earlier this month, and her wedding to Shoaib is expected to take place in Hyderabad as early as April. Reports also indicate that a reception will take place in both Lahore and Dubai, the latter being Malik's current place of residence.
A pressing concern for Indian fans is whether she will continue to represent the tri-colour or Pakistan. Shoaib seems to have allayed most fears, with the Times of India quoting him as having said, "Representing India at the 2012 Olympics is very important for her, and I will be the proudest husband if she can win a medal for her country,"
