The celebrations for St. Patrick's Day at Montserrat marked the arrival of the Queen's Baton 2010 Delhi. The baton's arrival weaved in the Indian expatriate community to celebrate the arrival of the baton through diverse cultural programmes and festivities.
The Charkula Arts Academy performed two dances the Maur Rass (peacock dance) which focuses on the love between Lord Krishna and Radha and Barsane Ki Lathamar Holi Dance. The Indian High Commissioner also participated in the festivities and received the baton from the President of the CGA. The finale was a performance by The Masqueraders dance with the baton.
The island of Montserrat is home to Maizie Williams, musician from the famous Boney M group. This mountainous and volcanic island is located along a rugged coastline.
Montserrat made its debut in the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria and has been a regular participant since then.
