The Indian Premier League today announced a list of 51 interested world cricketers for the third player auction to be held on January 19th 2010. The list comprises the cream of cricketing talent from around the cricketing world including 11 Australians, 9 South Africans, 8 Sri Lankans, 8 West Indians, 7 Pakistanis and an assortment of players from across the Bangladesh, New Zealand and Zimbabwe. The auction will also feature for the first time players from from Holland and Canada.

kieron_pollard.jpgIncidentally, the IPL had received nearly 100 entries from international players, of which the eight franchisees had short listed 60 players for the auction on January 19th and out of which only 51 have been cleared for the auction. The remaining will be featured pending NOCs from the home boards.

Indian and indeed IPL fans all over the world will now be able to witness the likes of Kemar Roach, Phil Hughes, Adam Voges, Shahid Afridi, Dougie Bollinger and Keiron Pollard in action back home in India as IPL Season 2010 kick offs on March 12th 2010.

As per the guidelines set by the Governing Council for the IPL 2010, each Franchisee will have a fresh purse of US $ 750,000, to select the cricketers best suited for their team's strategies from the list of 51 international cricketers available for the auction.

Speaking on the occasion Lalit Modi, Chairman & Commissioner, Indian Premier League said "The enthusiasm and interest displayed by players from all around the world to participate in IPL 2010 has been truly overwhelming. I would like to welcome the players from Canada and Holland in particular and also like to wish all of the 51 cricketers all the very best. Clearly the IPL has set new standards in helping uncover and hone some exciting new talent, that have gone on to gain international recognition, all of which augurs well for development of world cricket. We are extremely happy with the interest the league has garnered globally and look forward to the action at the third player auction."

ECB permits players: Since the announcement, 8 Englishmen have been added to this list. They are - Jonathan Trott, Eoin Morgan, Tim Bresnan, Monty Panesar, Graeme Swann, Anthony McGrath, James Foster, Robert Key.

Mohammed Kaif's contract has been bought out by the Rajasthan Royals and the former Indian middle order star will join the 66 other players in the IPL auction pool.
