Sania Mirza had mixed fortunes at Wimbledon today, as she failed to clear the second round in the Ladies Doubles, but bounced back later in the day to team up with Mahesh Bhupathi and progress into the third round of the mixed doubles.

Mirza, partnering Chia-Jung Chuang of Chinese Taipei crashed out of the second round of the Ladies Doubles without as much as a whimper, losing to Alla Kudryavtseva and Monica Niculescu in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.

She did however come back onto court later in the evening with her countryman Mahesh Bhupathi and got the better of the all British pairing of Colin Fleming and Sarah Borwell in two tight sets 7-6 (4), 6-4.

The Australian Open champions are seeded 13th in the event, and received a bye in the first round.

Also making the third round was the top seeded pairing of Leander Paes and Cara Black. Paes and Black received a walkover in their match against Michal Mertinak and Mara Santangelo today, and have reached the third round without hitting a ball in the tournament so far.

Sadly the two Indian pairs face each other for a place in the quarterfinals.
